Volume One and Two Available Now!

ZOOKeepER Graphic Novel

Zookeeper is a series of graphic novel thrillers written by Benjamin Morgan and drawn by Wolf Chi.  Volume One: What does it mean to be alone in this world? was self-published in 2020 and is the first installment of a three-part series which tells the tale of John, a botanist, surviving in a world devoid of humans. The first installment creates the parameters of a new world order which is explored in many ways throughout future volumes. Zookeeper Volume Two: To Sacrifice One…is expected to be released in September 2024 to much anticipation!

Zookeeper is an examination of humanity’s place in our world and raises many ethical questions on the responsibility required to make it a world for all living creatures, not just humans.  The story tackles the themes of extinction, isolation, self-harm and denial/acceptance as it follows John’s physical and emotional journey. Its gripping pace allows not only John, but also the reader, to comprehend that delusion will only last for so long before action is vital to fix the many environmental problems we face as a species. As revenge is not a Man-made concept, how long might it be before other species hold us to account? With the balance of power tipped in human’s favour, one push is all it takes for everything we have done as a species to unravel.

We are not alone in this world, but we will be…..

ZOOKeepER Vol 1: What does it mean to be alone in this world?

Zookeeper Volume One: What Does it Mean to be Alone in this world? is the first volume of the story of John, a botanist who has emerged after a year long experiment, into a world devoid of humans. But he is not alone. Never have we been alone. His mind fraught with the endless possibilities of mankind’s demise, the truth is more horrific than John could have ever imagined. But the truth can break more than just one man. It can break us all. To sacrifice one for the many? Isn’t that what being human is all about? John must use all his wits to survive the dangerous game of cat and mouse if he ever wants to see his wife again.
Zookeeper is a 128 page dystopian graphic novel that questions mankind’s relationship with the animal kingdom and delves into where our position in the natural world should be, before it’s too late. It’s hard to hold onto your humanity when you are alone in this world……

Created by Benjamin Morgan and drawn by Wolf Chi, Zookeeper is not only a gripping read but a visual feast meticulously exhibiting a world without humans. From double splash pages to miniature detail, Zookeeper’s art and pace will have the reader dying to know what happens next…

Reviews:

“You hooked me from Page 1 and didn’t let go until the last page. It’s mysterious, and constantly intriguing, with horror often hovering in the background……Zookeeper is brilliant. Praise for the artist…his art is in turns, bleak, horrific and almost normal. A great job by any standard.” Alan Grant – Batman, Lobo, Judge Dredd

“Zookeeper raises interesting questions, and navigates a world full of (very) relevant themes, such as the environmental impact of humans, and fear of isolation.” – Stref – Milk, Raising Amy, JM Barrie’s Peter Pan

ZooKeeper Graphic Novel Reviews

“Zookeeper is brilliant. You hooked me from Page 1 and didn’t let go until the last page (and even not then, with a second volume to look forward to). It’s mysterious and constantly intriguing, with horror often hovering in the background. Praise for the artist. Wolf’s art has caught the script perfectly. His art is in turns bleak, horrific and almost normal. A great job by any standard.”

Alan Grant

Batman, Lobo, Judge Dredd

“Zookeeper is a hugely enjoyable cautionary tale for our naturally imbalanced era. With thrilling sequences and spectacular art, Morgan and Chi explore our relationship to the wild and our possible futures, and raise the chilling question: what is the world without us?”

Rachel Caplan

San Francisco Green Film Festival, London Green Film Festival, Green Film Network

“Zookeeper raises interesting questions, and navigates a world full of very relevant themes, such as the environmental impact of humans, and fear of isolation. We are being watched, have we also been judge? And by whom…or what? I look forward to the answers in future volumes..”

Stref

JM Barrie’s Peter Pan, Beano, Dandy, Viz.

“It wasn’t long before I was totally reassured that this story would sustain its gripping premise, suspense, and development.
It’s not often I find myself giving an actual thumbs up to the events in a graphic novel while I’m reading it, but this one had me doing just that! Zookeeper had me enthralled in a way I have not felt since Scream! comics.”

“Zookeeper is an exceptional story of horror, mystery and realism. With everything that’s going on with the real world, you’d believe this could happen. It feels REAL! Morgan’s story is a gripping one along with Wolf’s art. When you come to the end, you’re itching for more. This could make for an epic survival movie or tv show!”

“Since buying volume 1, I’ve read it from cover to cover no less than 6 times in the last 2 weeks. This story is epic, gripping, compelling and many other things that I don’t have the words for. As soon as volume 2 is ready, count on me to be one of the first to buy it.”

“This is a gripping read from the start and the artwork is fantastic. Very excited about the next one!”

Stuart McMurtrie

“I was intrigued… excited… heartbreaking, I really feel for the protagonist. Like I was searching for the human race alongside John in a brilliantly set up world. The attention to detail in the artwork is fantastic, very vivid, at times gruesome, and shows off the action of the story well. And the way John narrates, it’s emotional and heartfelt, with other voices mixing into the conversation that makes you wonder what it must be like to be alone in the world.”

Little Yorkshire Reader Reviews

Faith. Every time we pick up a book, a comic book, or a Graphic Novel, we put faith in the creator(s) that we will be treated to an amazing story. A story that will capture us from the beginning, and won’t let go of us, even after finishing our reading. Zookeeper managed to do this to me. The protagonist was realistic, as was the concept of time outside of the main character’s own story. Some writers forget about this. The outside world stands still, whilst their characters move through theirs. Not so in Zookeeper. The world has moved on, and continues to do so, irrespective of what the main character gets up to. I have read the first two books, and I’m hungry for more. Am I expecting a happy ending? Am I expecting all loose ends to be resolved? “No!” is my answer to both questions. What I am expecting is to find out more about the world in which the main character has ended up in. I am waiting with great anticipation for the next book

“I’ve just finished reading volume 2. I have no words! So amazingly written, illustrated, the suspense! I couldn’t put both volumes down. I had to read each of them start to finish in one night. I highly recommend every single person to buy the Zookeeper Graphic novels.

I can’t wait to see what volume 3 brings, until then….
